Boyd’s 14th Annual Father’s Day Charity Car Show
This year, our 14th Annual Father’s Day Car Show promises to be another great success. The event takes place on Sunday, June 17th 2012, from 11:00am to 4:00pm at City Park in Kelowna, B.C. Last year our 13th Annual Father’s Day Car Show was a great hit, with over 500 cars, trucks, boats and bikes! As well, there was something for everyone to enjoy. Cars for Dad, bouncy castles and face painting for the kids and the silent auction for Mom, as well as great food and entertainment. All proceeds were donated to a great organization, The Canadian Cancer Society. So the management and staff of Boyd Autobody & Glass gives special thanks to all our volunteers, corporate sponsors, silent auction donators and all that made this great day happen.
This year the proceeds will go to The Burn Fund. They are a registered non-profit charity established in 1978 by the BC Professional Firefighters’ association. The Burn Fund provides life saving, life supporting, and life enriching services to the people of British Columbia. This charity hosts young burn survivors for one week of summer camp which focuses on child burn survivors. These unfortunate children receive the opportunity thru fundraising efforts, to come together for a week of activities that produces the biggest smiles on their faces. The Burn Fund hopes that for at least one week they can help these kids forget that they have been burned. That alone is worth all the effort. Please join us as we hope to raise as much money as we can for The Burn Camp for Kids. This years charity of choice, for the 14th Annual Father’s Day Car Show. The winners of the Boyd car show raffle were Kim Webster and Walter Kristalowich Kim chose the TV while Walter chose the TV.
The Annual Fathers Day Car Show raises money for charity from the participant fees, the corporate sponsors, T-shirt sales and the silent auction. As well as sales of hotdog, pop, and water from the Boyd CarBQ. Additionally, whenever a vehicle is repaired at Boyd’s a portion of the bill goes towards the charity of choice through the Boyd Community Rewards program.
Boyd Car Show History
Thirteen years ago a dream was created... To hold a car show for all those lovers of the hot rods, bikes and road rumbling machines that a boy growing into a man would truly appreciate. This day would be held on no better a day than Fathers Day!
When the car show first started you could look up and down Dayton Street, and it was loaded from Springfield to Dickson Ave with vehicles of all makes and models. There was live music, food and auctions. This event has had such an enormous impact on Kelowna and surrounding areas that it was a must to continue year after year!
Each year getting bigger and bigger we had to move from our Dayton location to the Downtown location “Boyd’ Customs” in 2004, offering more room for vendors, people and of course those cars, trucks, bikes and trikes.
